Once upon a time, there was a girl named Kim and a boy named Billy - both playful children and kind of old. Kim was nine years old, and Billy was seven years old. They both had a daddy and a mommy, but the daddy and the mommy had no names. They were born with no names. Their parents were mean giants. Actually, they did have names, but they were both yucky names. Do you want to hear the names? The names were Ew for the mom and Gross for the dad.
One day, when it was sunny out, the children both wanted to play outside. The mom and dad said yes, so the children both packed their suitcases and went outside for a picnic. The suitcases were filled with food. After they had their picnic, they both wanted something to do. So they decided to look for something. They went inside, packed their back packs with stuff they could use on the way, and went back outside.
Then they went out and soon found a castle. They went inside the castle and found the king and queen.
"What do you want?" the king and queen asked.
"Well, I wanted to ask you," Kim said, "what do you want?"
"I would like a feather from the Enchanted Owl," said the queen.
"What's the Enchanted Owl?" asked Kim and Billy.
"Oh, the Enchanted Owl is an owl that has many feathers - brown polka dots and blue stripes on its feathers. And a very round head with a pointed beak and two huge yellow eyes with very black circles in the middle. The owl has very wide eyes, of course, and looks very wise. He lives in the very cold part of North America, and hates when any light gets in his eyes or when it is dark. He likes it when it is between, like maybe in the afternoon. On a tree branch he lives. He sleeps until the afternoon," finished the king.
"Oh!" Kim and Billy both said together.
And then the king and queen gave them a map of North America with an X where the owl was, and Kim and Billy set off.
Soon, they came to something very cold. They walked a bit farther, then they slipped. It was ice! Then they saw that the map they had was an electrical map. They looked at the directions, and it said, "When you see a red circle, then that is where you are."
And guess where they saw the red circle? They saw it right at the beginning of North America!
"Yay!" they both screamed so loudly that it shook the whole North America and ruined the owl's ears so they drooped way down to his feet.
They shivered walking all the way to the middle of North America. There they saw a brown tree, and on it a brown owl with brown polka dotted feathers and blue stripes.
"The Enchanted Owl!" they both yelled with excitement.
They both ran up to it and carefully sneaked up behind it. They grabbed one of its loose feathers. They ran all the way back to the beginning of North America. They ran all the way back to the castle, and they walked right up to the king and queen.
Out of breath, Kim and Billy said, "We found the Enchanted Owl's feather."
Finally, the king and queen yipped and hollered and screamed with joy!
"For your prize," the king and queen said, "we let you go back home."
Of course, they wanted to go home. And so, they yipped and screamed and hollered and jumped for joy! Then they opened their eyes.
"Was that all a dream?' they said. They were lying on the picnic blanket.
"Yes it was!" said their father. "You must have dreamed about a castle and a king and a queen, because I see one right down the road. It is old and tattered and only has belonged to my parents," said the father.
